The Washington Nationals made a series of roster changes on November 2, designating several players for assignment as they brought two players back from the 60-day injured list.

Major League Baseball’s November 2 deadline to activate players from the 60-day injured list forced Washington to reduce its roster. The Nationals had five players on the list and had already added pitcher Braxton Roxby and infielder Nate Furman, leaving them over the 40-player limit.

Washington designated pitchers Mitchell Parker and Paxton Schultz for assignment, and both were claimed off waivers. Atlanta claimed Parker, who had a 6.58 ERA in 22 appearances before undergoing Tommy John surgery. Cincinnati claimed Schultz, whose 6.40 ERA came over 27 appearances, including one start.

Infielder Jose Tena was also designated for assignment and went unclaimed. He hit .222 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 114 games. Left-handed pitcher PJ Poulin, who posted a 2.70 ERA in 35 outings, elected free agency after clearing waivers. His season had included a left flexor strain.

Pitcher Ken Waldichuk also chose free agency after clearing waivers. He had undergone a second Tommy John surgery and was expected to miss most or all of the 2027 season.

The Nationals reinstated catcher Drew Millas and pitcher Matt Waldron from the injured list. Both remain on the roster for now, though further changes could follow as Washington continues adjusting its roster.
