Spencer Leads Memphis Past Kings as Grizzlies Reach 6-0

Cam Spencer had 13 assists without a turnover as Memphis beat Sacramento 136-105 on November 1, moving to 6-0 despite two point guards being sidelined.
On November 1, Cam Spencer made his first start of the season and helped Memphis defeat the Sacramento Kings 136-105. Back problems kept Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. out, so Spencer recorded 10 points, five rebounds and 13 assists in 25 minutes without a turnover.
No Memphis player had previously put up at least 13 assists with no turnovers since Tyus Jones did so in March 2023. Spencer has delivered 26 assists and committed one turnover over his past three games. He had reached 13 assists three times last season and averaged a career-high 5.6 assists per game.
Spencer, selected 53rd in the 2024 NBA Draft, averaged 14.3 points and 3.6 assists in his senior season at UConn. During his college career, he played for Loyola, Rutgers and UConn and posted averages of 14.2 points, along with 3.3 assists, shooting 46.8% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range. Draft concerns included his ball handling and speed, and whether he could defend NBA guards.
Memphis also got a career-best 27 points and nine rebounds from Cameron Boozer. Isaiah Stewart scored a season-high 24 points on eight-for-nine shooting, while GG Jackson made all five of his three-point attempts and finished with 21. The Grizzlies’ bench scored 81 points despite several rotation players being unavailable.
Memphis is 6-0, with a 2-0 home record and a 4-0 mark on the road, and has outscored opponents by more than 15 points per game. The Grizzlies are scheduled to host the 2-4 New Orleans Pelicans on November 2.
