Darius Acuff Jr. Matches Rare Rookie Scoring Feat
Sacramento Kings rookie Darius Acuff Jr. recorded 25 or more points, five rebounds and five assists for a third straight game on November 2, helping Sacramento beat the Dallas Mavericks 115-100.
On November 2, Darius Acuff Jr. scored 25 points, handed out six assists and grabbed five rebounds as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Dallas Mavericks 115-100. The win ended Sacramento’s six-game losing start to the 2026-27 season. Acuff’s line also made him the first NBA rookie since Luka Doncic in 2019 to reach those three statistical marks in three consecutive games.
The 19-year-old is just the second first-year Kings player ever to put together that run. Oscar Robertson was the first, during the 1960-61 season, when the team played as the Cincinnati Royals.
Acuff’s previous two games were also high-scoring outings. He put up 34 points, 14 assists and six rebounds against the New Orleans Pelicans, then scored 38 against the Memphis Grizzlies, making nine three-pointers to tie the league rookie record for threes in one game.
Selected seventh in the 2026 draft after playing at Arkansas, Acuff has averaged 26.3 points and 6.3 assists through his first seven NBA games. His scoring, ability to get past defenders and work setting up teammates have quickly made him a key part of Sacramento’s offense. The Kings still have to find consistency, and sustaining this production over a full season will be a greater test, but the rookie’s opening stretch has offered the team a bright spot.
