Tomas Hertl scored with 32 seconds left to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh on November 3.

Hertl scored twice, including the decisive power-play goal, as Vegas edged Pittsburgh 3-2 on November 3. His late tip of a Mark Stone pass came after the Golden Knights had killed a Pittsburgh 5-on-3 advantage. The result gave Vegas only its second win in Pittsburgh in franchise history and extended the Penguins’ losing streak to three games.

Pittsburgh had taken the lead in the third period when Tommy Novak and Rickard Rakell scored, overturning a one-goal deficit. Novak was called for tripping after the teams returned to full strength, and Hertl converted on the ensuing power play.

Trevor Connelly tied the game for Vegas with 8:41 remaining, scoring on a breakaway. Hertl had opened the scoring late in the first period, with Mitch Marner assisting and extending his point streak to 11 games. The teams did not score in the second period.

Adin Hill made 23 saves for the Golden Knights, who were coming off a shootout loss in Boston the previous night. Pittsburgh goalie Arturs Silovs stopped 20 shots. Novak finished with a goal and an assist, while Rakell scored for a fourth consecutive game. Sidney Crosby had no points and remained level with Marcel Dionne at 1,771 career points, tied for sixth in NHL history. Evgeni Malkin missed the game with a lower-body injury.

Vegas continues its road trip in Detroit on Thursday. Pittsburgh is set to host Boston that night.
