Houston Astros first baseman Christian Walker won the American League Gold Glove on November 1, his fourth career win and his first in the American League.

Walker was selected as the American League’s top defensive first baseman, ahead of Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Kansas City’s Vinnie Pasquantino. The award is his first since joining Houston and makes him the Astros’ first Gold Glove-winning first baseman since Yuli Gurriel in 2021.

Walker previously won three consecutive awards with Arizona, from 2022 through 2024. In 2026, he recorded a fielding run value of 7, second among American League first basemen and fifth across Major League Baseball. Guerrero had a fielding run value of 6 and a higher range figure, 4 to Walker’s 2.

Walker played 1,330 innings at first base, compared with 1,095 for Guerrero and 943 for Pasquantino. Gold Glove voting is conducted by club managers and a maximum of six coaches representing every team, none of whom may vote for players on their own club. Since 2013, a defensive rating from the Society for American Baseball Research has also accounted for about 25% of the result. Walker received a $75,000 bonus for the award.
