Crow-Armstrong and Bregman win Gold Gloves for Cubs

Chicago’s centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Alex Bregman, the team’s third baseman, won National League Gold Gloves on November 1, recognizing their defense during the 2026 season.
The Chicago Cubs added two Gold Gloves to their 2026 defensive record on November 1, with Pete Crow-Armstrong honored in center field and Alex Bregman at third base. It was Crow-Armstrong’s second consecutive award and Bregman’s second career Gold Glove, following an earlier win with Houston.
Crow-Armstrong was among the season’s top defenders by several measures. He posted 26 Fielding Run Value, the highest figure in the majors, and 73 Outs Above Average, helping the Cubs lead baseball in that statistic. His award also adds to a season in which his all-around performance put him in the National League MVP conversation.
Bregman’s award followed a standout defensive year in his first season with Chicago. He recorded 15 Defensive Runs Saved, nearly twice his previous career best, and eight Outs Above Average. He became the Cubs’ first Gold Glove-winning third baseman since Ron Santo in 1968.
Three additional Chicago players—Dansby Swanson at shortstop, Ian Happ in left field and Seiya Suzuki in right—were finalists but did not win. Chicago’s defense led the majors in Outs Above Average, Defensive Runs Saved and Fielding Run Value. The team’s strong fielding did not carry over to the postseason: after failing to secure home-field advantage for the wild-card series, the Cubs were swept by San Diego in two games.
