Mariners Reinstate Seven Players, Outright Five to Tacoma

Seattle reinstated seven players from the 60-day injured list and assigned five more outright to Triple-A Tacoma on November 3, completing a round of offseason roster moves.
The Seattle Mariners restored seven players to their 40-man roster on November 3. Among them were Matt Brash, a right-handed pitcher, and Colt Emerson, an infielder. Also returning from the 60-day injured list were first baseman/outfielders Michael Toglia and Luke Raley, outfielder Brennen Davis, and pitchers Logan Evans and Nick Davila, both right-handers.
After they passed through waivers unclaimed, Tacoma became the destination for five players Seattle outrighted: Patrick Wisdom, Weston Wilson, Will Wilson, Troy Watson and Josh Simpson. The moves take the five players off the 40-man roster; no other team claimed them during the waiver process.
The reinstatements had to be made no later than five days following the World Series and do not, on their own, confirm that any player is medically cleared or ready for spring training. Emerson underwent a procedure to repair a tendon in his left wrist; Brash missed time with a right lat strain. The other players’ listed injuries included elbow surgery, a shoulder dislocation, a forearm strain and hamstring and shoulder problems.
Emerson’s recovery could influence Seattle’s infield plans, while Brash’s health and workload will shape expectations for the bullpen. The team also faces decisions about how Raley and Toglia fit at first base and in the outfield. Toglia, claimed off waivers from Cincinnati in October, will have an opportunity in spring training to show where he fits.
