Tyler Davis Made a Strong Case for a White Sox Bullpen Spot

White Sox reliever Tyler Davis delivered solid results in his 2026 major league debut season, including two scoreless playoff outings, giving Chicago reason to keep him in its bullpen plans as free agency begins on November 3.
Tyler Davis may not have drawn much attention during the White Sox’s 2026 season, but the 28-year-old reliever made the most of his first major league opportunity. He appeared in 31 games for Chicago and 23 for Triple-A Charlotte, and also pitched in both of the team’s home playoff games before the season ended.
Davis recorded 27 strikeouts at each level. His major league ERA was 3.66, compared with 6.12 in Charlotte, and his WHIP was 1.16 for the White Sox against 1.40 in Triple-A.
His playoff appearances came while Cleveland was already ahead and moving toward victory. Davis nonetheless held the Guardians scoreless across three innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Neither hit went for extra bases.
Most of Davis’ regular-season work came in losses and lower-pressure situations. He did not allow an earned run in 24 appearances, while Chicago lost each game in which he gave one up.
As the White Sox begin considering their roster for next season on November 3, Davis is not among the players whose free agency requires a decision from general manager Chris Getz. The current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire December 1, a deadline that would bring a lockout. Davis’ 2026 performance gives the club a reason to view him as a potential part of its major league bullpen going forward.
