Green Ejected as Warriors Rally Past Suns

On November 2, Draymond Green was removed from the game during the third quarter of Golden State’s game against Phoenix in San Francisco. The Warriors rallied without him to win 116-113.
Green was sent off early in the third quarter after a confrontation with Suns center Khaman Maluach and forward Dillon Brooks. After Maluach went up for a shot near the basket, Green wrapped his arms around him and brought him to the floor. Maluach still scored on the play.
Brooks came over, and Green and Brooks pushed against each other. Officials assessed Green two technical fouls—one for his contact with Maluach and another for the ensuing altercation—and ejected him. Brooks also received a technical. Green’s final totals were four points, four rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes.
The incident helped shift the game’s energy, Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski said, adding that the team became more focused and rallied around Green. Brooks said he had entered the confrontation to calm it down. Maluach described the play as basketball and said he had nothing against Green.
Golden State had trailed by double digits after halftime but came back to beat Phoenix 116-113. Stephen Curry scored 34 points, while Charles Bassey contributed 19 points and eight rebounds off the bench in 22 minutes. The win moved the Warriors to 5-3 for the season.
Green returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous night’s game. His ejection was his first of the season, and he has three technical fouls so far. A player who reaches 16 technical fouls in a season receives an automatic one-game suspension.
