Green Ejected as Suns and Warriors Trade Barbs After Scuffle

Golden State beat Phoenix on November 2, dropping the Suns to 1-4. Green was tossed during the third period, prompting opposing players to dispute how the Suns responded.
The Phoenix Suns fell to 1-4 after losing to the Golden State Warriors on November 2, in a game whose defining moment came during a third-quarter confrontation. Green was assessed a pair of technicals after incidents with Khaman Maluach and Dillon Brooks and was ejected. Brooks also received a technical after the ensuing scuffle.
Golden State center Charles Bassey criticized Phoenix’s response, arguing that the Suns’ players were acting tough rather than showing toughness through physical play during the game. He said he and Green had been going for the ball when another player intervened, and welcomed the Warriors’ win.
Brooks said he had tried to calm the situation, though he acknowledged pushing Green at the end. Maluach characterized his involvement as part of ordinary play and said he saw no ill intent from Green.
Phoenix guard Devin Booker said clashes were likely when Green and Brooks shared the court. Warriors star Stephen Curry said the incident energized his team and helped prompt its comeback.
Golden State has won five straight games, including this one, and the teams are now even at one win apiece in their season series. They are scheduled to meet again in Phoenix on December 28.
