Thiero Could Return for Lakers by Week’s End

Lakers coach JJ Redick said on November 2 that forward Adou Thiero is progressing and could become available later this week, after missing the start of the season with left-knee swelling.
The Los Angeles Lakers may soon have Adou Thiero available for the first time this regular season. Coach JJ Redick said before the team’s November 2 game against Miami that Thiero had stepped up his basketball activity and taken part in live work. Redick said he hoped the second-year wing would be ready by the end of the week.
Thiero has been sidelined by swelling and fluid in his left knee, an issue that also affected him during his rookie season and preseason. Los Angeles beat Miami and improved to 6-2, while continuing to rely on an offense led by Luka Doncic.
The 22-year-old has appeared in 25 NBA games, all from the bench, averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in six minutes per game. He also played in six of the Lakers’ 10 playoff games last season, averaging 1.5 points and two rebounds in 5.7 minutes.
Brooklyn selected Thiero 36th in the 2025 draft before he was traded to Los Angeles. At 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds, with a 7-foot wingspan, he could add athleticism on both ends of the court. The Lakers could use him as soon as Friday against Portland, in their second NBA Cup group-stage game.
