Oklahoma State Opens Season With 31-Point Win

Oklahoma State beat Incarnate Word 91-60 at Gallagher-Iba Arena on November 2, opening its 2026-27 basketball season with a decisive victory.
Oklahoma State built a 54-17 halftime advantage and went on to defeat Incarnate Word 91-60 in its season opener at Gallagher-Iba Arena on November 2. The margin allowed coach Steve Lutz to spread playing time across his newly assembled roster; all but one Cowboy played at least 12 minutes.
Sam Houston transfers Jacob Walker and Kashie Natt started for Oklahoma State. Walker contributed eight points, eight assists, three rebounds and four steals. Natt recorded seven points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Freshman Anthony Felesi, also in the starting lineup, finished with four points, a rebound and an assist.
Guard Kanye Clary was dressed but did not play. Lutz had described the returning player as under daily evaluation for a groin problem and said he would not rush him. Clary averaged 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season. His return is expected to add experience at point guard as the team adjusts to new roles.
Oklahoma State’s first-half defense held the Cardinals below 30% shooting and did not allow a free throw. Incarnate Word shot 55.5% after halftime, while finishing with 21 turnovers. The Cowboys collected 10 steals, including four by Walker.
Lutz has identified defensive improvement as important to the Cowboys’ hopes of becoming an NCAA Tournament-level team. They will look to carry the early defensive signs into their next stretch, with a game against Texas A&M next week expected to provide a more demanding test.
