Seattle Guard Tripp Haywood Commits to Washington

Jimmie “Tripp” Haywood III, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard with Seattle roots, committed to the University of Washington on November 3, choosing the Huskies over Nevada and Loyola Marymount.
Washington landed its first commitment in the 2027 recruiting class when Haywood chose coach Danny Sprinkle’s program on November 3. The 6-foot-4 guard is attending AZ Compass Prep in Arizona after playing at Garfield and Bellevue high schools in the Seattle area. He also played summer basketball for Northwest Rotary and Arizona Unity.
Haywood is the son of Jimmie Haywood, a former standout at Franklin and Rainier Beach who received a scholarship to Oregon State. His father started 74 of 108 games for the Beavers from 2000 to 2003. The younger Haywood is described as a physical guard who competes through contact and has developed as a perimeter shooter.
At a 2025 event with Northwest Rotary, Haywood recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals. He is due to open year two at AZ Compass Prep on November 14, when the team faces Second Baptist. The Arizona school draws players from around the country and says seven of its former players have reached the NBA, while roughly 50 are currently playing Division I college basketball.
