Five-Star Center Lewis Uvwo Commits to Providence

Lewis Uvwo, the No. 7 prospect in the 2027 class, chose Providence over Kentucky, Baylor and Cal on October 28.
Five-star center Lewis Uvwo announced he will play for Providence, giving first-year coach Bryan Hodgson a major addition to the Friars’ 2027 recruiting class. Uvwo is ranked No. 7 overall in the cycle by 247Sports and is considered its top center. He attends Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Uvwo said Providence appealed to him because of its people and culture, and because he felt the staff believed in him as both a player and a person. He also cited the chance to help build on the program’s history. Uvwo praised Hodgson’s knowledge of the game and vision for the team.
The center visited Providence last month after taking visits to Kentucky, Cal and Baylor. He is the third five-star recruit Providence has landed in the 247Sports era, joining Ricky Ledo and Kris Dunn, both in 2012.
A 247Sports scouting report described Uvwo as an elite defensive prospect, citing his athleticism, energy and physical tools. It listed him at 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, with a wingspan approaching 7-foot-6. His commitment marks a significant recruiting result for Hodgson as he begins his first season leading the Friars.
