Washington Faces More Uncertainty at Center Before Penn State Game

Washington’s center position remains unsettled as Kolt Dieterich’s status is uncertain ahead of the Huskies’ game against Penn State, after he was injured against Nebraska. Coach Jedd Fisch discussed the situation on November 2.
Washington may need another change at center for its game against Penn State after Kolt Dieterich was unable to finish Saturday’s 17-10 win at Nebraska. Coach Jedd Fisch said on November 2 that Dieterich had multiple injuries and was questionable to play, without detailing the injuries.
Dieterich, a transfer from Sam Houston State, moved from tackle to center during fall camp and has started six games at the position. Landen Hatchett, Washington’s 2025 starting center, will miss the rest of the season because of a neck problem.
Geirean Hatchett could start at center against Penn State. In his seventh season, he has made 21 starts along the offensive front, all at guard, and played both center and right guard at Nebraska. Fisch said the position has been difficult to manage and that the team hopes Dieterich can play.
Jake Flores, who shifted from guard to center in spring practice, missed the Nebraska game with an injury. He may resume practicing this week and could provide backup at center. Washington also had five false-start penalties against Nebraska, including three by offensive lineman John Mills. Left tackle Kodi Greene returned to the starting lineup and earned his best grade of the season.
