Clemson Faces Multiple Injuries Before Syracuse Game

Clemson will be without several players, including center Harris Sewell and running back Gideon Davidson, for its game against Syracuse in New York this week.
Clemson heads into its matchup with Syracuse after a win over Florida State, but the Tigers will be missing several players who were injured against the Seminoles. The game is set for noon at the JMA Wireless Dome and will air on ESPN2.
Center Harris Sewell is expected to miss a few weeks and will have minor surgery. Coach Dabo Swinney hopes he can return later this month. True freshman Grant Wise is set to make his first career start at center. Swinney said Wise has already played in important games and on the road.
Starting running back Gideon Davidson is also expected to miss the Syracuse game. Jarvis Green will take over as starter, with transfer Chris Johnson Jr. and Jay Haynes also in the backfield rotation.
Linebacker Kobe McCloud is expected to be out for a couple of weeks. Fletcher Cothran is in line for more playing time alongside senior Jeremiah Alexander. Guard Elyjah Thurmon also suffered a neck injury against Florida State and is expected to miss an extended period.
Clemson will rely on younger players as it looks to build on its win and make a late push for the ACC Championship.
