Three Undefeated Teams Face Tests in November

Miami, Utah and UCLA are the last unbeaten FBS teams, each at 8-0, entering the final month of the 2026 regular season. All three play on November 7, as Miami travels to Notre Dame and Utah welcomes BYU.
Only three of the 136 FBS teams that began the 2026 season hoping to go undefeated remain without a loss: Miami, Utah and UCLA. Each is 8-0, and the College Football Playoff committee is set to release its first rankings on November 3.
Miami, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, visits No. 4 Notre Dame on November 7. The Hurricanes have narrowly beaten Florida State and North Carolina in recent weeks; their 38-35 win over North Carolina kept them unbeaten. Notre Dame is 7-1, and a Miami victory would add a significant result to its playoff case.
No. 3 Utah hosts No. 7 BYU in Salt Lake City on November 7, in a rivalry game with Big 12 title implications. Utah is coming off a 49-25 win at Cincinnati, in which it led 42-6 at halftime and ran for 268 yards. BYU enters at 7-1 and remains in the conference championship race.
UCLA, ranked No. 5, is the season’s surprise contender after being picked 12th in the Big Ten preseason poll. The Bruins shut out Nevada 27-0 to reach 8-0 and visit Minnesota on November 7. Their remaining schedule includes Illinois on November 13, a trip to Michigan on November 21 and a November 28 game against USC.
The unbeaten teams’ chances will be tested as November unfolds. Miami and Utah face ranked opponents this weekend, while UCLA must navigate a demanding run of Big Ten games. Every remaining result will also come as the playoff committee begins issuing weekly rankings.
