Alabama Looks to Reset Its Playoff Push Against LSU

Alabama, 6-2, heads to LSU on November 7 after a bye week, with players saying they are ready for the final stretch. The matchup comes as the first College Football Playoff rankings are due on November 3.
Alabama enters the final month of the regular season with its playoff hopes still in its hands, but little room for another slip. The Crimson Tide is 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the SEC after losing consecutive games in mid-October. Winning its remaining games would put Alabama in the College Football Playoff, while its first ranking is scheduled to be released on November 3.
The Tide’s next test is a top-15 road matchup with LSU, which is 6-2 and 3-2 in conference play. The teams meet on November 7, following Alabama’s bye week. Players Jackson Lloyd and Yhonzae Pierre said the break left the team eager to return to action.
“We’re starving to be honest with you,” Lloyd said after practice. Pierre also said the team felt urgency, adding that players were ready to have one another’s backs and compete on Saturday.
Alabama has one more road game after LSU, against Vanderbilt, before closing the regular season at home against Chattanooga and Auburn. Senior safety and captain Bray Hubbard said the team must stay focused on each week rather than look ahead. He said the immediate goal is to go 1-0 against LSU.
