Uiagalelei Says Moore Is Helping Oregon Prepare for Ohio State

On November 3, Oregon defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei said injured quarterback Dante Moore is helping the Ducks prepare for their matchup with Ohio State by working on the scout team.
On November 3, Oregon edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei said Dante Moore has continued helping the Ducks prepare for Ohio State, despite a concussion expected to keep the starting quarterback out for the rest of the season. Moore works with Oregon’s scout team, giving the defense practice against the Buckeyes’ offense, Uiagalelei said.
Oregon is preparing to face Ohio State for Uiagalelei’s third time in college, and his first game at the Buckeyes’ home stadium, known as “The Shoe.” Ohio State is ranked No. 11 and is led by freshman quarterback Luke Fahey while starter Julian Sayin is injured.
Uiagalelei described Fahey as a quarterback who makes sound decisions, has awareness in the pocket and avoids forcing plays. He also warned that receiver Jeremiah Smith is an exceptional player who cannot be treated like just another target.
Reflecting on Oregon’s recent game against Northwestern, Uiagalelei said quarterback Aidan Chiles escaped the pocket and hurt the defense. He said Oregon needed to do a better job containing him and focus on effort and running to the ball.
Uiagalelei said the team was excited about the challenge and should play confidently rather than be intimidated by the stadium or opponent. He also said players should stay within the defensive scheme instead of trying to make plays outside their assignments.
