Boise State Opens CFP Rankings at No. 25

Boise State entered the first 2026 College Football Playoff rankings at No. 25 on November 3, giving the Broncos the only Group of Six spot in the top 25.
Boise State was ranked 25th in the College Football Playoff committee’s opening standings, released on November 3. The 7-1 Broncos are 4-0 in the Pac-12 and were the only Group of Six team to make the top 25. The highest-ranked Group of Six team at season’s end receives an automatic playoff berth.
The committee’s initial bracket projection placed Boise State as the No. 12 seed, facing fifth-seeded Alabama in the opening round. Boise State was ranked higher in the AP and Coaches polls, at No. 20 and No. 21, respectively.
Coach Spencer Danielson said the team is concentrating on winning each week and pursuing a fourth consecutive conference championship rather than tracking rankings. He described November as a demanding stretch when teams must keep improving as the season advances. Danielson also welcomed attention for the program and university but said rankings matter only at the end.
Miami led the committee’s first top 25, followed by Georgia, Utah, Indiana and Alabama. Boise State made its only previous playoff appearance in 2024, after securing the second of three consecutive Mountain West titles.
