Brian Thomas Jr. Trade Speculation Puts Chiefs and Commanders in Focus

Thomas Jr. scored on his only catch in Jacksonville’s 42-7 win over Indianapolis, but his playing time has varied sharply. He was on the field for 21% of the snaps in a Week 6 loss to Houston and 52% against the Colts. He has 10 catches for 117 yards this season, a steep drop from his rookie year, when he recorded 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns and earned a Pro Bowl selection.

The Jaguars have several other options drawing more targets, though Thomas remains a downfield threat. Coach Liam Coen and quarterback Trevor Lawrence have publicly supported him. Lawrence called him talented and praised his effort after the touchdown catch. Jacksonville is 5-2, and whether the team would trade him remains uncertain.

Kansas City is a prominent possible destination. The Chiefs need more help at receiver, with Tyquan Thornton expected to miss the rest of the season and Rashee Rice having missed three games. One proposed deal would send Jacksonville a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 sixth-round pick. The Chiefs could offer Thomas more playing time and a chance to add a deep threat, but a trade would strengthen an AFC contender.

Washington could offer Thomas a reunion with college teammate Jayden Daniels. Terry McLaurin is out for the season, and a proposed package includes a 2027 fourth-round pick and defensive tackle Shy Tuttle. The Raiders, who need receiver help, are another possibility, with a suggested offer of a 2027 third-round pick.

Los Angeles is also presented as a potential landing spot, with injuries to Davante Adams and Puka Nacua creating a need for receiver depth. Thomas might have a smaller role there than in Kansas City or Washington. Pittsburgh is another proposed suitor, with a third-round pick and tackle Dylan Cook suggested as a possible package.
