JJ Watt Was Turned Away From Broncos Stadium Without a Credential

CBS analyst JJ Watt was initially refused entry to the Denver Broncos stadium on November 1 after arriving without his media credential, then later entered to call the team’s narrow win over Kansas City.
Watt said he walked to the Broncos’ stadium early Sunday after his usual morning stroll. He had not planned to go there and did not bring his media credential. Although a facial-recognition scan identified him and displayed an entry approval, security staff still stopped him at the gate because he lacked the required credential.
An employee offered to escort Watt onto the field, but security declined to make an exception. Watt recounted the mix-up on CBS before the game and praised the staff, despite being unable to enter at first. The show’s host joked that the guards had accomplished something few others could: keeping Watt out.
Watt returned to his hotel and later made it into the stadium and up to the broadcast booth. He was working alongside Jim Nantz as CBS’s lead game analyst. The Broncos went on to beat the Chiefs in a close finish, stopping Patrick Mahomes on fourth-and-goal as time ran out.
