Broncos’ Comeback Leaves Running Back Trade Question Open

Denver beat Kansas City 28-24 on November 1 after trailing by 11 in the fourth quarter, with rookie Jonah Coleman helping drive the comeback. The win has not resolved whether the Broncos should seek a running back before the November 10 trade deadline.

The Broncos rallied past the Chiefs 28-24 at Mile High on November 1, overturning an 11-point deficit in the final quarter. Jonah Coleman helped spark the finish with a 51-yard reception and the go-ahead touchdown, along with productive runs.

J.K. Dobbins, meanwhile, had 13 rushing yards on seven carries and spent the second half on the bench. Denver signed him to a two-year, $16 million contract in March, but his recovery from the foot injury that ended his 2025 season has not yet translated into strong production. Rookie running back RJ Harvey is sidelined for a minimum of three additional games after hurting his knee in practice.

With Denver at 6-2 and holding a half-game advantage over Kansas City in the AFC West, the team faces a decision before the November 10 deadline: trust Coleman as a key option behind quarterback Bo Nix, or pursue additional help. Denver has all of its 2027 draft picks available.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is a prominent possible target, but the Colts have received a second-round pick offer. Taylor has 1,699 career carries and is averaging 4.1 yards per carry this season. His contract includes $15 million for 2027 and $9.6 million for 2028.

Other potential options include Tennessee’s Tony Pollard, who has 15 fewer rushing yards than Taylor’s 610 this season, and New York’s Breece Hall. Hall has 163 yards and one touchdown on 51 carries across three games. Denver has previously been linked to him. The Broncos still have nine regular-season games ahead, and Harvey is expected to return after his minimum three-game absence.

Players: Tony Pollard, J.K. Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor, Breece Hall, Bo Nix, RJ Harvey, Jonah Coleman
