Tampa Bay’s Run Game Powers Offensive Line Revival

On November 3, 2026, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive line was credited with driving the NFL’s top rushing attack after strong ground performances against Carolina and Atlanta.
Tampa Bay’s offensive line has begun to deliver the form expected of it entering the 2026 season. After an uneven start, the group has helped produce two consecutive standout rushing performances, with its middle unit improving alongside established tackles Tristan Wirfs and Luke Goedeke.
The Buccaneers ran for more than 250 yards against the Carolina Panthers, with Bucky Irving leading the ground attack. They followed that by gaining more than 300 rushing yards against the Atlanta Falcons, repeatedly moving Atlanta’s front seven and creating space for their backs.
Interior linemen Cody Mauch, Ben Bredeson and Graham Barton endured inconsistent stretches, but have become important contributors as the interior has settled. The line’s health and growing familiarity with its assignments have helped Tampa Bay climb to the league’s best rushing average, 168.6 yards per game.
Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson has used zone blocking to create favorable angles and open running lanes, while counter plays have added another spark. As blockers, rookie Bauer Sharp has joined Cade Otton and Payne Durham in contributing.
Pass protection remains an area to improve. The line has not been as effective against opposing rushers on passing plays, and the next challenge is to carry the confidence built on the ground into those situations. If it can, the unit could continue to be a major factor in Tampa Bay’s results.
