Eagles’ Season Unravels Without Hurts
In its November 3, 2026, NFC rankings, a Week 9 assessment said Philadelphia’s season had collapsed after Jalen Hurts was sidelined by blood clots and the Eagles lost three straight games.
Philadelphia’s early-season struggles became a full collapse in the latest NFC team rankings, which described the Eagles’ 2026 campaign as effectively over. The assessment pointed to three consecutive losses without quarterback Jalen Hurts, a stretch in which Philadelphia was outscored by 43 points and outgained by 343 yards against teams with a combined 5-12-1 record outside their games against the Eagles.
Hurts had helped Philadelphia win its first two games, but warning signs appeared in a Week 3 loss to Chicago and a Week 4 defeat by the Rams. In Week 5, the Eagles lost to Jacksonville. The ranking said the team allowed Hurts to make two long-haul flights and play despite knowing he was suffering from a surface-level clot in his leg. He was later diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs, ending his season. The report said investigations into the medical handling were continuing.
The assessment blamed problems across the roster and coaching staff, citing offensive line and injury concerns, ineffective play and questionable game management. Elsewhere in the NFC list, Washington was 14th, New Orleans 13th, Carolina 12th, Dallas 11th, Atlanta 10th and Tampa Bay ninth. Dallas lost in overtime after Arizona scored four late touchdowns, while Atlanta was shut out after quarterback Michael Penix threw four interceptions and lost a fumble.
