Four Affordable Safety Targets for the Bills at the Trade Deadline

On November 3, four safeties emerged as potential trade targets for the Buffalo Bills, whose limited cap space could shape their deadline options.
Buffalo has about $4 million in salary-cap space, making the cost of any trade a key consideration as the Bills assess whether to add a safety. Four possible targets have projected cap hits below that amount if acquired on deadline day: Jeremy Chinn, Elijah Molden, Isaiah Pola-Mao and Nick Cross.
Chinn, 28, is playing out the last season of his agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders. Through eight games this season, he has 56 tackles, one interception, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. His projected cap hit for Buffalo would be $3.11 million.
Molden, 27, has played both free safety and slot cornerback for the Chargers and Titans. In five games for Los Angeles this season, he has allowed five completions for 78 yards. His projected cap hit is $2.67 million, and his contract has one season left, with a $5.25 million base salary.
Pola-Mao, also with the Raiders, is playing the last season of his contract and has a projected cap hit of $1.45 million. He started all 17 games for Las Vegas in 2025, recording 92 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defended, but has since lost his starting role to rookie Treydan Stukes.
Cross, now with Washington, is projected to cost $1.36 million against Buffalo’s cap. He started all 17 games for Indianapolis in each of the 2024 and 2025 seasons, recording 146 tackles in 2024 and 120 in 2025. Across four appearances for Washington this season, he has allowed five completions for 57 yards in coverage.
