Kerby Joseph Won’t Play Against Dolphins as Lions Ease Him Back

Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph is expected to get more work in practice this week but will not play against the Miami Dolphins. Coach Dan Campbell discussed the plan on November 3, 2026.
Joseph took part in limited practice last week as he works back toward playing. Campbell said the Lions hope to give him scout-team reps this week, with a little more activity than before, but he will not be available for Detroit’s road game against Miami.
Joseph said being back on the field and encouraging teammates from the sideline had been a positive experience. The Lions are also managing other injuries: D.J. Reed is unlikely to practice Wednesday because of a hip injury, while Juice Scruggs is expected to take significant practice reps Wednesday and likely Thursday. Campbell indicated that Mays may not be able to practice Thursday because of an ankle injury.
Detroit comes into the week after edging the Vikings at Ford Field despite dealing with multiple injuries. Campbell praised the team for staying composed through a close, uneven game, trusting its preparation and continuing to focus on the next play. The Lions are now preparing for their matchup with Miami while working through availability and practice decisions.
Players: D.J. Reed, Kerby Joseph, Juice Scruggs
