Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell is improving and resting at a Detroit-area hospital after a serious injury during Sunday’s game against Minnesota. Coach Dan Campbell gave the update on November 3.
Jack Campbell is improving after being injured during the Detroit Lions’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on November 1, coach Dan Campbell said on November 3. The All-Pro linebacker remains at a local hospital, where he is resting and recovering. The team has not released further details about his condition, citing respect for Campbell and his family.
Campbell was hurt while attempting to tackle Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson. He was left motionless on the field, then taken away on a backboard and transported to hospital. Lions coach Campbell said he visited him and found his family in good spirits, describing the injury as a small setback on the road to recovery.
The coach said he has kept team captains informed, and they have passed along the positive news to other players. He urged the team to keep Campbell and his family in their thoughts while returning attention to preparations and their responsibilities on the field.
Players from both teams took a knee as Campbell was taken off the field. Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson later rallied the Lions before play resumed, and quarterback Jared Goff encouraged teammates to support one another. The team also shared footage of coach Campbell leading a prayer for the injured linebacker.
Campbell and Megan became parents for the first time with the birth of Cooper James on July 3. The linebacker, 26, was selected by Detroit with the 18th pick in the 2023 draft. He earned All-Pro honors last season after recording 176 tackles and five sacks. The Lions are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.
