Texans Could Trade Wyatt Teller for Draft Pick

The Houston Texans may consider trading guard Wyatt Teller before the NFL deadline, a week away as of November 3, 2026. The 2-5 team could seek a late-round pick if it does not plan to give him a larger role.
Houston has a choice to make before the trade deadline: add players for a push this season or move on from pieces who have not fit as hoped. At 2-5, the Texans could consider either approach, despite making several earlier trades, particularly at wide receiver, to strengthen the roster.
Wyatt Teller is a potential candidate to leave. Houston signed the two-time Pro Bowl guard to a two-year deal this offseason, expecting he might start at left guard and improve the line. Instead, he has not secured a starting job and has appeared as a backup at right guard.
The team could still give Teller a chance to contribute more in the second half, including as a possible answer to the line’s penalty problems. If the coaches and front office do not see a place for him, a trade could give him a better opportunity while bringing Houston a draft asset.
A late-round selection, ideally in the fifth or sixth round, would address a gap in Houston’s current draft picks. The Texans have their own fourth-rounder and three seventh-rounders, but no fifth- or sixth-round pick. A trade could also let Teller join a team needing an immediate option at right guard, while Houston uses the added pick on a younger interior lineman in April.
