Bears Could Target Tight End Before Trade Deadline

The Chicago Bears may seek a tight end before the November 10, 2026, trade deadline after Cole Kmet’s season-ending knee injury. Mo Alie-Cox, Luke Schoonmaker and Dallas Goedert have emerged as possible options.
Published November 4, 2026. The Chicago Bears have drawn attention for possible defensive additions ahead of the November 10 trade deadline, but tight end is another position the team could address. Cole Kmet is out for the season with a knee injury, leaving rookie Sam Roush and backups Stephen Carlson and Qadir Ismail behind Colston Loveland.
Chicago uses formations with multiple tight ends frequently, adding to the potential value of another option. Roush has had difficulties this season, and the team could look for a veteran to help fill the gap.
Mo Alie-Cox of the Indianapolis Colts, Luke Schoonmaker of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Goedert of the Philadelphia Eagles have all been identified as possible trade candidates. Each is scheduled to become a free agent in 2027. Goedert is viewed as the strongest all-around option, with a record of receiving production and blocking; he had 11 touchdowns in 2025.
Alie-Cox is valued for blocking and red-zone ability, while Schoonmaker is considered a workable option in both blocking and receiving. The two may be available for a late-round pick, while Goedert could cost a fourth-round selection or less, potentially with picks exchanged.
Alie-Cox and Schoonmaker may be more affordable choices as Chicago seeks to preserve draft picks after trading for Jeffery Simmons. The Bears are also focused on cornerback and edge rusher, so a tight end move would be one of several possible deadline additions.
