Korpisalo Takes Step Toward Rangers Return

Goalie Joonas Korpisalo joined the New York Rangers for a limited practice on October 30 after recovering from a foot infection, moving closer to his season debut.
Korpisalo took part in Rangers practice on October 30 for the first time since a foot infection sidelined him at the start of the season. He worked for about 30 minutes, facing shots before leaving the ice early as part of a managed return to activity.
Coach Mike Sullivan said the session was a significant step, while noting that Korpisalo remains under workload limits set with the team’s medical department. The 32-year-old had resumed skating the previous weekend. After he was placed on injured reserve, the team gave him an estimated four-week recovery period.
If Korpisalo stays on that schedule, he could make his first appearance for the Rangers during their upcoming road trip, which includes stops in Seattle, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. The Rangers are due to play Edmonton on Sunday, followed by two home games before the trip.
New York has relied heavily on young goalie Dylan Garand while Igor Shesterkin and Korpisalo have been unavailable. Garand has a 4-5-1 record, a 2.69 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage this season. Korpisalo’s return could help ease the workload as the team navigates its upcoming games.
