Bruins Waiting to See If Larkin Will Join Trade List

As of November 4, Boston is among the teams interested in Detroit center Dylan Larkin if he agrees to consider a trade there. Larkin remains suspended without pay while awaiting a deal.
Boston is prepared to pursue Dylan Larkin if the Detroit center adds the Bruins to the teams he would accept in a trade. Larkin has not changed his list of preferred destinations, and the Bruins and Montreal Canadiens are among clubs watching for an opening to get involved, TSN’s Darren Dreger said Tuesday, November 3.
Detroit suspended Larkin without pay after he said he would stop attending games and practices until he is traded. The 30-year-old is losing more than $41,000 a day during the suspension. His current list includes 10 teams, but several may lack the cap room, trade assets or need at center to make a deal workable.
Boston, off to an 11-4-1 start, has a need for a top center and potential trade pieces. Larkin has scored at least 30 goals in six seasons and averaged 70.8 points annually from 2022 through 2026. His $8.7 million cap hit runs through the 2030-31 season.
The main question for Boston is the price. Detroit could seek established NHL players, while the Bruins might consider first-round picks and younger players such as Matt Poitras or Mason Lohrei. Boston is not expected to want to part with prospects Fraser Minten or James Hagens. Larkin could strengthen the lineup, but the account raises doubts about whether he alone would make the Bruins a top Stanley Cup contender. No trade has been agreed, and his list remains unchanged.
