Brian Sabean Lands on Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

On November 2, Brian Sabean was named to the Contemporary Baseball Era Hall of Fame ballot as his second tenure with the Yankees came to an end.
Brian Sabean said he was humbled by his selection for the Contemporary Baseball Era ballot, announced on November 2. The former Giants general manager is among eight people being considered for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Yankees have decided not to bring Sabean back for 2027, ending his four seasons as an executive assistant to general manager Brian Cashman. He also worked for the Yankees in the 1980s and 1990s, contributing to the development of the group known as the Core Four.
Sabean later led the Giants to three championship titles as their general manager. Two other candidates, Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy, were appointed as Giants managers while Sabean was serving in his role. “I’m blown away. I’m beyond humbled,” he said.
Also on the ballot are Ted Turner, Sandy Alderson, Bill White, Joe Maddon and Lou Piniella. It focuses on managers and executives whose most significant contributions came in the late 20th century.
