The World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers are prepared to hear trade offers for closer Trevor Megill this offseason, with the reliever one season from free agency.

Milwaukee is beginning its offseason after winning the first World Series title in franchise history. The Brewers are expected to keep much of their championship roster, but closer Trevor Megill could be a trade candidate as the team plans for 2027.

Megill is due to become a free agent after the 2027 season. An estimate puts his 2027 arbitration salary at about $8 million, up from $4.7 million in 2026. Milwaukee has previously traded pitchers, including Devin Williams, Freddy Peralta and Corbin Burnes, a year before they reached free agency.

The right-hander has delivered three strong seasons as a closer. In 2026, he posted a 2.63 ERA and recorded 30 saves in 63 appearances. He had a 2.49 ERA with 30 saves in 50 games in 2025, and a 2.72 ERA with 21 saves in 48 outings in 2024.

Abner Uribe is the leading in-house option to take over if Megill is dealt. Milwaukee could also keep Megill and enter 2027 with him, Uribe and Aaron Ashby anchoring its bullpen. The team is coming off its first championship, and the approaching expiration of baseball’s collective bargaining agreement could make this offseason unusual.

The Brewers are open to hearing proposals, but that does not mean a trade is certain. A deal would depend on whether another club makes an offer Milwaukee considers worth accepting.
