Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale was named a National League Cy Young Award finalist on November 2, after a season with a 2.16 ERA and 200 strikeouts. The winner will be announced on November 11.

On November 2, Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale was named one of three finalists for the National League Cy Young Award. He joins Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski and Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sánchez. The award winner is due to be announced on November 11.

Sale, 37, made 27 regular-season starts and recorded a 2.16 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP and 200 strikeouts in 162.2 innings. His ERA ranked second among National League pitchers, behind Misiorowski, while his WHIP was third. Sale also helped Atlanta finish with a 3.63 team ERA, the fifth-best mark in the majors.

This is Sale’s second finalist selection in three seasons with the Braves, and the fourth of his career. He won the award in 2024, after an 18-win season with a 2.38 ERA. Misiorowski is considered the favorite this year, following a 16-5 season with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts.

Sale’s late-season highlights included fanning 11 batters while blanking the Dodgers for a full game on August 27. He has 2,779 career strikeouts and will pursue the 3,000 mark next season. A February extension guarantees him $27 million for next season and includes a $30 million club option for 2028. Braves manager Walt Weiss is also a finalist for National League Manager of the Year; that award will be announced on November 10.
