Walt Weiss Among NL Manager of the Year Finalists

Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss was named a National League Manager of the Year finalist on November 2, after leading the team to 94 wins and the NL East title.
Walt Weiss is one of three finalists for the National League Manager of the Year Award, announced on November 2. He is joined by Philadelphia Phillies manager Don Mattingly and Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy, who is seeking the honor for a third consecutive season.
The Braves moved Weiss from bench coach to manager after Brian Snitker retired. Atlanta had won 76 games the previous season and failed to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017. In Weiss’s first season in charge, the Braves won 94 games and claimed their first NL East crown since 2023.
Atlanta entered the playoffs as the National League’s third seed. The Braves beat Philadelphia in two of the three games in their Wild Card Series at Truist Park, then fell to Los Angeles in a Division Series that lasted five games.
The Manager of the Year winner will be announced on November 10. Braves pitcher Chris Sale is also in contention for the NL Cy Young Award, with that winner due to be revealed on November 11. Sale’s fellow finalists are Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski and Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sánchez.
