Rangers Keep Most Coaches, Make Two Staff Changes

The Texas Rangers announced two coaching changes and several baseball operations promotions on November 2, while retaining most of manager Skip Schumaker’s staff for 2027.
Published November 3, 2026. The Texas Rangers are keeping most of manager Skip Schumaker’s staff for the 2027 season, with two changes announced by president of baseball operations Chris Young on November 2. Alex Cintron, who served as an assistant hitting coach, is shifting into another role in the organization, and Dave Bush, an assistant pitching coach, is departing.
Schumaker will lead the team for a second season. Returning coaches include bench coach Luis Urureta. Justin Viele remains in charge of hitting, while Jordan Tiegs continues overseeing pitching; Travis Jankowski stays at first base and Corey Ragsdale at third. Assistant hitting coach Eric Dorton and the bullpen, quality control and catching coaches are also returning.
The Rangers also promoted four people in baseball operations. Former player Nick Hundley will become vice president of player development, while Mike Parnell’s new post is vice president of pro personnel, and Hamilton Wise will lead amateur and international scouting as vice president. Josh Boyd will advise leaders overseeing amateur and Pacific Rim operations. Young confirmed Wise’s promotion after other teams had pursued him for possible general manager positions.
Texas finished 2026 with an 80-82 record, after spending much of the season around .500. The club has not reached agreements with its free agents, and Joc Pederson, Jakob Junis and Kyle Higashioka declined mutual options. Texas added pitcher Jose Butto after securing him on waivers, then restored four players to the 40-man roster: Cole Winn, Jose Corniell, Jack Leiter and Carter Baumler. Three roster spots remain open. Texas has about a month to make player moves before a possible lockout if MLB owners and the players’ union do not reach a new labor agreement by December 1.
