On November 3, the Mariners exercised Andrés Muñoz’s 2027 option and gave Randy Arozarena a qualifying offer, while the Astros picked up Isaac Paredes’ 2027 option. The moves come as MLB teams prepare for the collective bargaining agreement to expire on December 2.

With MLB’s current collective bargaining agreement set to expire on December 2, teams are making roster decisions ahead of a potential lockout. The Mariners and Astros made moves involving three Mexican players in early November.

Seattle exercised its club option on closer Andrés Muñoz for 2027, guaranteeing him a $9 million base salary. His existing deal also includes a $10 million option for 2028. Muñoz recorded 28 saves in 2026, striking out 89 batters over 57⅓ innings. He had a 4.24 ERA after missing 10 save opportunities.

The Mariners also extended a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer to Randy Arozarena. He can accept it or decline and explore free agency. If he turns it down and signs with another team, Seattle could receive draft compensation. Arozarena, who was born in Cuba and is a naturalized Mexican, had career highs of 113 runs and an .865 OPS in 2026.

Houston exercised its option on third baseman Isaac Paredes for 2027, guaranteeing him $13.35 million—$4 million more than his prior season’s salary. That figure is below the more than $15 million projected for him through arbitration. Paredes hit 25 home runs and drove in 94 runs during the regular season.
