Yankees Face Several Roster Needs, Including Third Base
On November 3, the Yankees’ roster needs included third base, bullpen help, a right-handed catcher and a right-handed center fielder.
The Yankees have several significant roster needs, including finding a player to fill a hole at third base. Their other needs include multiple bullpen additions, a right-handed-hitting catcher and a right-handed center fielder with strong defensive ability.
Brent Headrick is the only healthy, regularly used reliever from the 2026 season who remains under team control, leaving the bullpen short on dependable options.
The team did not adequately address its need for a right-handed catcher in 2026. In center field, Cody Bellinger and Spencer Jones are both left-handed hitters, and neither is considered an ideal fit. A right-handed player who can defend well would make that situation more manageable.
