Red Sox Could Listen to Trade Offers for Brayan Bello

Boston may consider trading right-hander Brayan Bello this winter after an inconsistent 2026 season, though he remains under contract for three more years.
The Red Sox could be open to trade discussions involving Brayan Bello this winter, even though the team is not necessarily seeking to move the right-hander. On November 4, comments by baseball writer Sean McAdam indicated Boston would hear offers rather than treat Bello as untouchable.
Bello, 27, has three seasons remaining on his contract and a club option for 2030. His 2026 campaign was uneven: he struggled in several starts, was sent to Triple-A, and also excelled when used after an opener. He finished with a 4.33 ERA, then allowed one run over 12 innings in his final two regular-season appearances, both starts.
The contrast with 2025, when Bello posted a 3.35 ERA in 29 appearances, has left questions about what role and results he could bring next season. A trade could give Boston a chance to seek a strong return and pursue a more established pitcher.
Keeping him also has a clear case. Bello showed his ability in relief and late-season starts, and he was an important part of Boston’s rotation in 2025. His contract offers the club several years of control, while the current rotation is weighted toward left-handed pitchers. Bello is viewed as the strongest right-handed option already in the organization.
Boston could therefore retain him and try to establish him in a consistent starting role, unless a substantial trade opportunity emerges. The team’s decision will hinge on how it weighs his 2026 inconsistency against his potential and contract.
