Six White Sox Draft Picks Reached the Minors in 2026

On November 4, a review of the Chicago White Sox’s 2026 draft class found that six of 20 picks played in the minors during their first professional season.
Only six of the White Sox’s 20 draft selections appeared in the minor leagues in 2026. Second-round pick Landon Thome and Cole Prosek, both mentioned among the notable selections, did not make their professional debuts that season.
No. 1 pick Roch Cholowsky, a UCLA shortstop, joined the team’s High-A Winston-Salem club in early August. His season lasted nine games before right wrist soreness ended it. He hit .167, with a .326 on-base percentage and .333 slugging percentage, including one home run, and committed five errors.
Outfielder Clay Burdette, selected in the seventh round from Xavier, played 29 games for Low-A Kannapolis. He batted .274, reached base at a .381 clip and slugged .481, hitting two homers and driving in 22 runs. He also stole 13 bases in 15 tries.
Twelfth-round selection Braden Holcomb posted a .321/.424/.607 line over 15 games split between Low-A and High-A, with two home runs and 12 RBIs. First baseman Grayson Fitzwater, a 13th-round pick from Virginia Military Institute, hit .271 with four homers and 28 RBIs in 29 Low-A games.
Seventeenth-round outfielder Crew McChesney batted .175 in 21 Kannapolis games. Jake Berkland, the last pick Chicago signed, played 20 Low-A games and hit .220, but his .466 on-base percentage reflected 22 walks. The review points to 2027 as a chance for several of the young players to build on their initial minor-league experience.
