Arkansas Sets Scoring and Turnover Records in Season Opener

Arkansas beat New Orleans 127-48 at Bud Walton Arena on November 2, setting program records for points and forced turnovers in a game.
Arkansas opened its season with a 79-point victory over New Orleans, scoring more points than any team in Razorbacks history and forcing a program-record 51 turnovers. The Hogs turned those takeaways into 69 points. They were behind for only 22 seconds, then led 34-14 after the first quarter and 64-28 at halftime.
All 13 Arkansas players who appeared scored, and six reached double figures. Ayianna Johnson led with 23 points, while Kyiah Prestidge added 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Prestidge said the team played with energy and executed its plans while supporting one another.
Coach Kelsi Musick praised the team's effort across all four quarters, while emphasizing discipline, connection and execution. She said Arkansas used shorter targets during the game to keep players focused, including working toward goals at five-minute intervals and by quarter. The records, she said, were an added benefit.
Preseason voters forecast New Orleans to end the year in last place in its conference, but Arkansas paired its lopsided win with strong scoring and defensive numbers. The Razorbacks next host Northwestern State on Friday, aiming to move to 2-0. The game is set for November 6, with broadcasts available on SECN+ and through the Razorback Sports Network.
