No. 25 BYU opened its season with a 94-83 win over Ohio State in Salt Lake City on November 2, 2026, led by Rob Wright III’s game-high 33 points. Wright made four 3-pointers and added five assists with one turnover.
BYU fell behind by 11 in the first half as the Cougars struggled to make outside shots. A Nate Pickens 3-pointer cut Ohio State’s lead to 37-34 at halftime. BYU shot 69% from the field overall and made seven 3-pointers after the break.
Ohio State briefly moved ahead 57-55 on a John Mobley Jr. layup. BYU answered with a 14-2 run, capped by a Wright 3-pointer that put the Cougars up 73-61 with 7:24 remaining. Wright scored 19 of his points in the second half.
Collin Chandler and Tyler Betsey scored 15 points apiece for BYU, while Bruce Branch III added 12 and Jaxon Kohler had 11. Amare Bynum led Ohio State with 18 points. Mobley recorded 14 points and seven assists, then exited after his fifth foul at 4:48 remaining.
BYU hosts Omaha on Friday, while Ohio State hosts Youngstown State.
