Giants Re-sign Eric Gray as Skattebo’s Status Remains Unclear

The New York Giants brought running back Eric Gray back to their practice squad on November 2 as Cam Skattebo worked with a trainer while recovering from a hamstring issue ahead of Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.
New York resumed practice on November 2 after its bye week, with Cam Skattebo working away from the main group alongside a trainer. Skattebo felt hamstring tightness after a 42-yard overtime run against Houston two weeks earlier. Coach John Harbaugh described his status as day to day and said he expected to have more information later in the week.
The Giants are short on healthy running backs after placing Tyrone Tracy Jr. on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Devin Singletary and Gregory Desrosiers, who joined the team last week after being on the Chargers’ practice squad, are the other available backs on the 53-man roster.
New York added Eric Gray, a 2023 draft pick, to its practice squad. Gray was with the Giants during the summer and had spent September on Cleveland’s practice squad before being released in early October. To make room for Gray, the Giants released defensive lineman Josh Tupou, who had appeared in one game.
The team is also discussing potential trades for a running back, with the reported asking price for Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor currently high. Outside linebacker Abdul Carter missed practice because of an illness, Harbaugh said.
Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas said he used the bye week to rest and recover from a groin injury. He expressed optimism about playing Sunday against the Eagles and then facing Washington on Thursday. The Giants are scheduled to issue their first injury report of the week on Wednesday.
Players: Josh Tupou, Devin Singletary, Jonathan Taylor, Andrew Thomas, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Abdul Carter, Cam Skattebo, Gregory Desrosiers
