McNabb Backs Eagles’ Playoff Chances After Sixth Straight Loss
After Philadelphia lost 27-10 to Washington on November 1, former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb said he still believes the team can reach the playoffs and urged it to stick with Tanner McKee.
On November 2, former Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb voiced confidence in the Eagles’ chances of reaching the playoffs, despite their sixth consecutive defeat: a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on November 1. Philadelphia is 2-6, while the Giants lead the NFC East at 4-2-1.
McNabb said winning the division could be enough to secure a playoff berth, and that a team could make a run once it gets there. With Jalen Hurts out for the season, McNabb recommended keeping McKee as the starting quarterback for at least the next three weeks rather than making an immediate change.
McKee threw for more than 200 yards against Washington but did not pass for a touchdown. Saquon Barkley scored Philadelphia’s only touchdown while dealing with a lingering hamstring problem. The Eagles were also without starting receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, who are injured.
Philadelphia’s next game is against the Giants on November 8 in Philadelphia. McNabb has suggested the winner could go on to take the division. The Eagles have a bye after that matchup, then visit Pittsburgh on November 22 to face the Steelers.
The remaining schedule also includes games against the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, followed by a rematch with the Giants to close the regular season. Dallas, at 3-5, lost to Arizona in overtime, while Washington improved to 2-4-1 with its victory over Philadelphia.
Players: Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Tanner McKee
