Bears’ Win Over Seahawks Makes Them Super Bowl Contenders

Chicago beat Seattle 34–17 on November 2, improving to 6–2 and strengthening its case as a Super Bowl contender. Caleb Williams and newcomer Jeffery Simmons led a complete performance against the reigning champions.
The Bears took control early with a 17-play, 80-yard opening drive that consumed 8 minutes, 32 seconds and ended in a touchdown. Chicago converted three third downs and chose to attempt a fourth-down play at its own 44-yard line, setting the tone for a 34–17 victory over the Seahawks on November 2.
Quarterback Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, directing the offense against Seattle’s highly regarded defense. Chicago also broke through with a 39-yard run by receiver Kalif Raymond on third-and-9 in the fourth quarter. D’Andre Swift scored on the next play, giving the Bears a 10-point lead with 8:28 remaining.
New defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons made an immediate impact, recording six total stops, including two behind the line of scrimmage, one quarterback takedown and one defended pass. Chicago’s defensive front pressured Sam Darnold without relying on extra pass rushers, helping the Bears withstand Seattle’s late push. The Seahawks had cut the margin to 20–17 with 11:46 left before Chicago pulled away.
The win leaves Chicago 6–2 and Seattle 4–4, outside the NFC playoff picture. The Bears remain in a wild-card position, trailing Minnesota and San Francisco, each at 6–1, by half a game. Chicago’s win marks a step forward for coach Ben Johnson’s team, though the Bears still face questions about their experience and standing in the NFC North after losses to Green Bay and Minnesota.
