Bengals Could Consider Titans Back Tyjae Spears Before Trade Deadline

The Cincinnati Bengals may consider trading for Tennessee running back Tyjae Spears before the November 3, 2026, trade deadline, though his injury history could make Tony Pollard a safer option.

With speculation growing that running backs Jonathan Taylor and Saquon Barkley could be available, the Bengals are also being urged to look at a less costly option: Tennessee’s Tyjae Spears. He has a potential fit in Cincinnati because of his receiving skills and pass protection, but has had limited opportunities this season and was restricted by a knee injury in Week 6.

Spears, a 2023 third-round pick, has accumulated 1,114 yards on 4.1 yards per carry, with eight scores during his career. He has also caught 147 passes for 948 yards and two touchdowns. His ability to contribute as a receiver could give the Bengals’ offense more options alongside Chase Brown, who has 2,473 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 165 catches and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Spears has missed 10 games during his career because of injuries. His knee history dates to college at Tulane, where he suffered two ACL injuries and developed severe arthritis in his right knee; he no longer has an ACL in that knee. Those concerns may weigh against a trade, particularly because Spears is in the final season of his rookie contract and a strong showing could bring a need to negotiate a new deal.

Tony Pollard may be a more dependable choice for Cincinnati among Tennessee’s backs. He has demonstrated a solid baseline and the ability to produce a major performance, including a 155-yard, three-touchdown game on October 25, 2026.

Players: Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard, Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown, Tyjae Spears
