Flacco Offers to Cover Williams’ Cleats Fine
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco said he would pay any new fine Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams receives for wearing Caddix cleats. Williams was fined more than $35,000 after wearing them in consecutive weeks.
Joe Flacco has offered to cover any further NFL fines Caleb Williams receives for wearing Caddix cleats. Flacco, a Bengals backup quarterback and an investor in the footwear company, said Williams could face another penalty for wearing them again.
Williams was fined more than $35,000 after wearing Caddix cleats in two consecutive weeks. The NFL deemed the footwear unauthorized.
Flacco said he has worn Caddix cleats for years and believes they make a difference. He said he would pay a future fine himself if Williams is penalized again, adding that he was willing to support Williams if he trusted the footwear.
Caddix has also put up a billboard in Chicago supporting Williams. The account of the dispute says Williams has been injured this season and raises the possibility that he could appeal the fine; it does not say whether he has done so.
