Kyle Monangai Remains Uncertain for Bears’ Week 9 Game

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai is uncertain to return for Week 9 after missing four games with turf toe, as of November 3.
Kyle Monangai has missed four consecutive games since injuring his toe in Chicago’s Week 4 win over the New York Jets. The second-year Bears running back was not placed on injured reserve, but has yet to return to game action as of November 3.
Coach Ben Johnson said Monangai’s recovery had taken longer than the team anticipated, rather than being slowed by a setback. Johnson said he hoped to have the running back back soon.
Monangai was seen riding a stationary bike at practice last Wednesday, his first appearance near the practice field since the injury. He did not take part in any practice during the week, leaving his availability for Week 9 uncertain.
The next indication of his status is expected with Chicago’s first injury report of the week, due Wednesday. The team’s assessment may become clearer if Monangai takes part in practice; without at least limited participation that day, his chances of playing would be in doubt. His status was assessed as no better than a 50-50 possibility.
