Black Hawk Narrowly Clears Fireworks at Seahawks Game

A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter narrowly avoided fireworks during a flyover at Lumen Field in Seattle on November 2, before the Seahawks lost 34-17 to the Chicago Bears.
Four U.S. Army helicopters flew over Lumen Field before Seattle’s Monday night game against Chicago. Three passed the stadium before the fireworks began. The final Black Hawk was still overhead when the display erupted close around it, prompting gasps from the crowd of about 70,000, video footage showed. The helicopter continued flying and left the area without apparent damage.
The flyover took place during pregame festivities, and helicopter appearances have become a regular feature at the Seattle stadium. Videos of the close timing circulated online from several angles. Some viewers questioned how the fireworks and aircraft had been coordinated; others said the helicopter was built to withstand demanding conditions.
The Seahawks lost 34-17, leaving the defending Super Bowl champions with a 4-4 record. Seattle’s next game is against the Arizona Cardinals, while Chicago is set to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bears improved to 6-2 and moved to within half a game of Minnesota’s lead in the NFC North.
